You know what really grinds my gears? (Hope you like Family Guy references). Answer: Expenses contract templates that are not enforceable. Every state is a little bit different and not all provisions are enforceable in every state. My templates are all drafted according to CA law. It's still a good idea to have your attorney review the contract. If you're out-of-state, my templates will still be a phenomenal start. Take it to a local attorney to have small tweaks made for your state laws.
For my wedding photography contract, I spoke for a total of 6 hours with three experienced photographers who have edited and tweaked their own contracts over the years to address specifics for their niche. I do the same with every template. I also implement my knowledge from working with creatives, and I poll my audience to gather info on what they would like to see addressed.
Some of my contracts may be longer than what you're used to seeing. That's because I do my best to address all aspects of each agreement, so that you don't need to piece meal a document from four different sources or need to add your own language and be unsure that it's legally binding. But don't worry, I try to keep them straightforward and easy to follow.
With any purchase, you will get access to my back-of-house video tutorial series (in the future it will likely become a full on course). I call it Creative Contracts. For each template, I record a detailed video covering each and every provision explaining what it is, how to use it, how to explain it to your clients, and considerations you can make if you need to make your own edits.
My plan is to do a monthly Q&A to answer questions on contracts for all of those who have purchased my templates. I'm working on the details on how I can best support you. Let me know if you have ideas!
This is my master wedding photography contract template. I surveyed photographers with years of experience in the biz. We added and customized provisions like harassment clauses and language that won't get you in trouble with uncle Bob steps in front of your shot with his DSLR. I made sure to gather an exhaustive list of what needed to be included, and made it happen. The contract is easily customizable and offers alternative provisions for you to choose your own adventure on terms like payment, retainers, and cancellations.
Your operating agreement is the contract between you and your business. Every LLC needs an operating agreement whether there's one owner or multiple. This template is drafted to California law and provided the general provisions you need with room to make tweaks to meet the demands of your business. Every template also comes with access to my training on contracts (Creative Contracts) and a step-by-step tutorial on how to edit the document.
This is my master template for marketing consulting and social media management services. It's great for any biz owner that provides services where they are providing content or consulting services to a client to help that client bring in business. The contract is easily customizable and offers alternative provisions for you to choose your own adventure on terms like payment, retainers, and cancellations.
In California, the powers that be are really cracking down on employment and independent contractor issues. In April of 2018, the California Supreme Court came out with a decision in a case called Dynamex that created new rules for when a worker is deemed a contractor. This made it appear, at least on the surface, that all salon workers would be required to be employees. However, there were some gray areas. Currently, the State Legislature is working on passing a bill to clarify concerns and provide certain exceptions for booth renters. I drafted this agreement to meet the requirements of the proposed bill, so you'll be covered now and when it passes.
