My life is a constant struggle of trying to not do everything. Can you relate? If not, I’m kinda jealous. However, I'm doing my best to provide a suite of products and services that will help freelancers and entrepreneurs at any level with any budget. At Braden Drake Law, I provide 1-on-1 legal & tax services. Creativepreneur Community is my online business and resource platform for creatives. I also co-authored a book on starting a new biz.
You’re at CP Community now where I provide products, courses, and events outside of the one-on-one setting where I serve creatives at my law firm.
I’m an Enneagram 7, which, in short, means that my interests are all over the place. I play volleyball, pickleball, basketball, tennis, and do triathlons. I collect cookware, am a self-proclaimed Pokemon master, and have a list of other hobbies. Running a business requires a bit more focus. To streamline my business model, I have really niched down with the types of clients I work with, which allows me to expand my services beyond the standard work of a small business attorney.
I live in San Diego with my husband and three dogs. I'm a self-proclaimed taxpert and IRONMAN triathlete. After my daily meetings, you can usually find me on Instagram talking about taxes and business law while I run around San Diego, after which I exercise my unhealthy passion for baked goods and burritos. My fashion influence is Victoria Beckham, but like if she decided to really commit to atheleisure wear. Basically, I just like black and enjoy being comfortable.
I'm originally from Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with majors in Russian and political science with a minor in business. I am a California licensed attorney with a Master's in Tax Law.
I run a pretty lean business here. It's just me and my three underpaid employees. Sammy, is responsible for customer service. She's the calm, cool, and collected type. She like pets, naps, and more pets. Dasha is my pawssistant. She mostly just like nappies, but also enjoys pets and attention. Sophie, on the right, is the point lady for office and customer/client/student morale.
According to Urban Dictionary: "An acronym for Gay Best Friend. A homosexual man who is the best friend of a woman. The GBF is a fashion accessory mainly found adorning city women having risen to popularity in the late 90's. GBF's are prized for having acute fashion sense and therefore suitable for shopping trips. Also known for better understanding the mysteries of female nature and therefore a good Agony Uncle and conversationalist."
Acute fashion sense - check. Suitable for shopping trips - duh. Fashion accessory - um excuse me? I mostly call myself your legal gbf because I like to take a relaxed and conversational approach. Taxes and legal topics might never be fun, but they don't have to suck or be that overwhelming. My goal is always to make things as fun as possible while also educating and empowering small business owners to become savvy-er entrepreneurs by covering their legal and tax bases.
